NEUROwave - Xtracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) in Acute Traumatic Complete (AIS A) and Incomplete (AIS B-D) Cross-sectional Lesions on Motor and Sensory Function Within Six Months After Injury

This secondary cascade involves vascular changes, an inflammatory response, neurotoxicity, apoptosis and glial scarring, and further compromises neurological impairment after traumatic spinal cord injury. Edema, ischemia and loss of autoregulation continue to spread bi-directionally from the initial lesion along the spinal cord for up to 72 hours after the trauma.

FDG PET-MRI for the Diagnosis of Spinal Cord Lesions

This trial studies the best time point of using F18-FDG that gives the best image on PET-MRI in patients with spinal cord lesions of unknown cause. Diagnostic procedures, such as F18-FDG PET-MRI, may help find and diagnose spinal cord lesions.

Transcranial Static Magnetic Field Stimulation (tSMS) in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

This study aims to evaluate safety and efficacy of tSMS in ALS patients and to obtain preliminary data about the effects of tSMS on cortical excitability. To this purpose, 40 ALS patients will be recruited and randomized to real or sham tSMS. After 3 months follow-up, they will undergo tSMS, …

Physiological Changes Induced Through MEP Conditioning in People With SCI

After spinal cord injury, brain-to-muscle connections are often interrupted. Because these connections are important in movement control, when they are not working well, movements may be disturbed.

Telehealth Pain Self-Management for Employed Adults

The E-TIPS trial will evaluate an evidence-based, telehealth pain self-management intervention compared to standard care (a waitlist) for chronic pain in adults with physical disabilities who are employed. Participants from anywhere in the US will be randomized to either E-TIPS, a cognitive-behavioral pain self-management intervention delivered by telephone, or a …

Transcutaneous Stimulation for Neurological Populations

The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether non-invasive stimulation over the spinal cord at the neck and/or lower back can improve walking function for people with neurologic conditions. Spinal stimulation has been used extensively for individuals with spinal cord injury, and has demonstrated improvements in function.

SCS Stimulation Clamp to Assess Impact of Stimulation on Glucose Metabolism

In 1967 spinal cord stimulation (SCS) for the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain was established. Today various pain syndromes like the failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS), the complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), ischemic pain or phantom limb pain are treated with SCS.
