How to Participate

Participating in a clinical trial involves four (4) steps. They are as follows:

Step 1

  • The first step involves selecting and contacting a site by sending a referral. (Explained briefly under 'Find a site widget' module).

Step 2

  • The second step is about 'Screening and Consent' which may involve the following:

Screenshot

  • The research team gets in touch with the participant and schedules an initial site visit. This may be done remotely or in person.

  • The participant visits the site, where the trial is being conducted. Here the participant is made aware of all the risks and requirements of being in the research study as part of the informed consent process.

  • Once the participant consents to participate in the trial, the participant is screened to determine if eligible to proceed with full study based on current health conditions.

  • Sometimes the initial visit is scheduled separately before the consent/screening visit. The consent/screening visit may also be done in person or virtual.

  • The participant may have to visit the site again for further screening as required and as determined by the study protocol.

Step 3

  • The third step is where the user participates or enrolls in the study once deemed eligible after full screening. Studies follow a detailed schedule, which may consist of a combination of in person visits, phone/virtual visits, tests, and procedures. The duration of these study activities may vary.

Step 4

  • The fourth step is about completing the study participation activities and getting the results if provided by the sponsor.
